"Tools" Menu

Dictionary / Thesaurus (Ctrl+D)

Anthony Lewis' WordWeb program must be installed on your computer for this option to be available.

WordWeb is started and looks up the word currently under the cursor. WordWeb can be used normally, but must be closed before returning to RoughDraft. Using the "Copy" button in WordWeb causes the word under the cursor in RoughDraft to be replaced.

Spellcheck From Cursor (F7)

Starts a spellcheck from the current cursor position (so if you want to check the whole file, position the cursor at the beginning first). The Spellcheck window appears for each misspelled word. The language to use for checking (British or American English) can be set in the Options window. At the end of a spellcheck the text "Finished spellchecking" appears in the message area at the bottom left of the window. All AutoWords are assumed to be spelled correctly.

Spellcheck Word (Ctrl+K)

Spellchecks the single word under the cursor. If is's spelled correctly, the message area (at the bottom left corner of the window) will show that the word is "OK". If misspelled, the Spellcheck window will appear, allowing you to change it. All AutoWords are assumed to be spelled correctly.

Word Count (Ctrl+W)

If no text is selected, the number of words in the file is counted. If text is selected, the number of words in the selection is counted. Note that RoughDraft does not mistakenly count punctuation marks or other symbols as words.

Word Count All (Shift+Ctrl+W)

Counts all the words in all of the open files. If you have lots of large files open this may take a while.

Make AutoWord (Ctrl+M)

Takes the word currently under the cursor and adds it to the AutoWord list (see the Ins. Tab of the Side Panel for more info).

Remove AutoWord (Shift+Ctrl+M)

Removes the word under the cursor from the AutoWord list (if it is there in the first place).

Make Clip (Ctrl+F9 to Ctrl+F12)

Four options that make a Clip out of the currently selected text in the document. This can later be inserted using F9 to F12, or the Insert Clip menu option described below.

Insert Clip (F9 to F12)

Four options that paste the contents of the appropriate Clip at the current cursor position.
